Ni Ema Baptista | Founder and CEO

Counsel, earned the long way.

Ni Ema Baptista is the founder and CEO of Ni Ema B. Consulting, the strategic communications and executive advisory firm she established in 2016. She advises founders, executives, public figures, and cultural institutions on public relations, strategic communications, and partnerships, with work that spans corporate communications, executive positioning, media relations, and live events.

In 2026 she led public relations and communications for San Francisco's Juneteenth Parade and Festival, coordinating media, talent, and stakeholders for a citywide celebration covered by KTVU FOX 2, CBS News Bay Area, KRON 4, and Telemundo. In 2025 she conceived and produced the sold-out Power Connect Launch Experience in Oakland. She advises recording artist C. Titus and represents author and speaker Marial Dhal, and she interviewed Blavity founder Morgan DeBaun in a closed session at AfroTech in Oakland in 2019.

She holds certificates from Harvard Business School Online in Disruptive Strategy, from Cornell University in Women's Entrepreneurship, and from Google in Project Management. She is currently studying AI software development through Codecademy and is enrolled in Modern Journalism, a certificate program from NYU and Yellowbrick that features Rolling Stone journalists.

Her perspective was formed early. Ni Ema spent fourteen years in foster care, from the age of four until she aged out at eighteen. In February 2002, at eighteen, she joined Clear Channel as a gopher, the person sent for whatever the day required. Being everywhere meant seeing everything: how decisions were made before the public arrived, which problems were solved behind the curtain, and how little of the real work ever made it on air.

She built her firm alongside a corporate career through 2020, and that early lesson still sits at the center of her practice. She looks at the whole picture first. What is missing? What could become an opportunity, or a risk? What has to be true before anyone sees a thing?

An Oakland native, she works between the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C., and she mentors current and former foster youth.

How she works

Strategy before visibility. She starts with what you are trying to accomplish and who needs to understand it. Attention comes after, and only when it serves the goal.

Discretion by default. Many of her most important engagements will never appear on this site. Clients trust her with what isn't public yet, and that trust is the job.

Culture as expertise. From Oakland's creative scene to national brands, she knows the communities her clients need to reach, and how they listen.

Every engagement begins with an Introduction.
